A Nollywood actor identified as Lawayne has sparked debate online after claiming that the late Francis Duru and Amaechi Muonagor each told him they had been poisoned while working on film sets.

In a selfie-style video that went viral on October 23, 2026, Lawayne said Duru confided in him about his declining health while the two were working on a production together. According to him, Duru explained that his condition would worsen after eating at a movie location and that he had long suspected poisoning.

Lawayne also claimed Muonagor gave him a very similar account around the same time, from a comparable setting.

He recalled a more recent conversation in which Duru allegedly told him his health troubles had returned. “He said now when be careful. He started battling with this thing for a long time,” Lawayne said. He admitted he could not offer meaningful help at the time.

Beyond the allegations, Lawayne criticised what he described as a culture of envy and rivalry in Nollywood, suggesting it was linked to what the two actors told him. He did not name anyone but promised more revelations. “I’m coming. I’ll expose a lot,” he said.

It is important to note that Lawayne presented no independent evidence in the video, and his claims have not been verified. The causes of death for both actors remain as reported at the time of their passing, not as Lawayne has alleged.

Francis Duru and Amaechi Muonagor were well-loved figures in Nigerian cinema, and their deaths drew tributes from colleagues and fans alike.
