Sharon Adeleke, sister of singer Davido and daughter of billionaire Deji Adeleke, has pushed back on the idea that “Nepo babies”, children from wealthy backgrounds, have unlimited access to cash.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Moraya Show, Sharon explained that while children of billionaires and millionaires do get more than the average person, they’re still expected to manage what they’re given, not just spend freely.
“A lot of Nepo babies don’t really have access to cash the way you guys make it seem. They have more than the average person, but they are always on a budget. Your school fees are paid, you are given land and properties, but you have to make use of them,” she said.
According to Sharon, wealthy parents often give their children assets like land and property rather than free cash, with the expectation that they build their own wealth from those resources.
She also revealed that she personally holds weekly finance meetings with her brother Davido to review his spending.
“Me and Davido would sit and have a finance meeting every week because I think it is important for him to know how his money is being spent,” she said.
Sharon added that she has specifically advised Davido to cut back on buying more luxury cars. This comes after Davido revealed during a livestream with streamer Davrel that he paid $11 million for a custom-made Bugatti, expected to be delivered to him in Nigeria soon.
