Nigerian singer Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, popularly known as Mayorkun, has said he will conduct a DNA test before accepting any child as his own.
Speaking on a recent episode of the In My Opinion podcast, the “Body Cheche” crooner revealed that he has already told his girlfriend about his plans to sign a prenuptial agreement before their wedding, and to carry out a DNA test whenever she gives birth.
According to Mayorkun, his girlfriend was unhappy about the decision, but he intends to go ahead with it regardless.
“I told my girlfriend we’d have to do a prenup and DNA test when she gives me a child, just to be sure. She got upset. I have thought of doing the DNA test without telling her. If it is my child, no issues. If not, everybody will hear about it,” he said.
DNA testing has been gaining popularity in Nigeria, with some experts advocating for it due to a rise in paternity fraud cases across the country. A number of celebrities have also publicly encouraged Nigerian men to confirm paternity through DNA tests before taking on full responsibility for a child.
