Afrobeats star Ayra Starr showed up to an exclusive Children of Blood and Bone x LaQuan Smith event during New York Fashion Week in a floor-length royal-purple gown that left no doubt she’s fully committed to her “purple era.”

The semi-sheer LaQuan Smith maxi dress featured an asymmetric high neck, a sheer bust overlay and a thigh-high side split, paired with a metallic purple shoulder bag and black ankle-strap heels. Her beauty look leaned into the theme too — magenta-and-purple cut-crease eyeshadow, glossy ombre lips, and sleek bone-straight hair with a deep side part.

The event celebrated Tomi Adeyemi’s fantasy universe Children of Blood and Bone, in which Ayra Starr is making her Hollywood feature film debut while also contributing to the soundtrack.
