I’ve Never Slept in Any House I Bought”: Ola of Lagos Explains Why He Prefers Renting

Popular Nigerian influencer and entrepreneur Waris Olayinka Akinwande, better known as Ola of Lagos, has explained why he still lives in a rented apartment even though he owns multiple houses.

Speaking on the KK Show, Ola said he has never slept in any house he bought with his own money. According to him, living in his own place would make him too relaxed, and he doesn’t want that.

The luxury influencer said paying rent keeps him hungry and pushes him to work harder. He revealed that he pays ₦50 million every year for his rented apartment, and that he turns the “pain” of that payment into motivation.

“I have never slept in any house I bought with my own money. If you do, you will become too relaxed. Despite being in a beautiful estate, I still live in rented apartments and pay rent. When I pay 50 million naira a year, I use that pain to keep grinding harder,” he said.

So while many people dream of moving into their own house, Ola says he’d rather keep the pressure on.
