The Special Adviser to the President on Political and Other Matters, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, has assured President Bola Tinubu that the combined votes of opposition parties, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), would be insignificant compared to what the APC delivers in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking at the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council on Wednesday, Masari pledged to mobilize massive votes for the President and urged council members to focus on grassroots engagement, party discipline and measurable results.
“The combined votes secured by opposition parties would not be commensurate with what the council intends to deliver,” he told Tinubu.
Masari described the assignment as a solemn responsibility and encouraged members to take the campaign beyond press conferences and meetings, directly to polling stations, wards, local governments and communities across the country.
“Stop talking to yourselves and start talking to the people,” he said, cautioning against excessive meetings, exaggerated electoral claims and promises not backed by verifiable results on the ground.
He said the council’s performance would be judged by actual implementation, stressing that political influence must translate into real electoral outcomes. He also urged members to steer clear of internal conflict, inflammatory rhetoric and personal disputes, while calling on the council’s Director-General, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, to maintain unity, coordination and consistent messaging across the council.
According to Masari, the campaign should clearly communicate the administration’s policies on fiscal restructuring, education, healthcare and infrastructure, backed by evidence rather than vague promises.
He emphasized the importance of principled democratic engagement, urging political groups to follow electoral regulations, counter misinformation and run policy-focused campaigns. He also appealed to Nigerians to critically evaluate campaign claims and engage constructively in the electoral process.
